As part of its Engineers Week Activities, the Memphis-Area Joint Engineers Council sponsors a contest for Middle School (Grades 6, 7, 8) and High School (Grades 9, 10, 11, & 12) students. It is an opportunity for students to express their creativity and demonstrate their ingenuity by working on projects designed to improve our quality of life. Additionally, it is an opportunity to enhance public speaking skills as students will make presentations to judges about their projects.
Present a product that could be used to benefit society. This could involve:
A school may submit as many teams (projects) as it wants where a team may consist of 1 to 4 students. Each team will make a two-minute presentation to the judges (local professionals from all branches of engineering). Projects may be demonstrated by use of models, actual devices, drawings, sketches, a poster or any combination of the above.
Each team will be provided with a table approximately 3 ft. by 3 ft. to set up its display. Electricity will be available.
